BEING PREPARED FOR THE OPEN ROAD

For many, there is no better feeling than riding a motorcycle. Motorcycles connect the rider with the road, wind, and view like no other vehicle. The power of the engine is thrilling. One of our founding members, Isaac Jackson, was an avid motorcycle rider, and handling motorcycle accidents claims have been an important focus of Jackson Jones from the beginning.

The troublesome news is that motorcycle accidents are not uncommon, and when they occur, often catastrophic injury is suffered by the rider. But there are measures you can take to protect yourself, and lessen the chances of injury. (1) If you are new to cycling, then you should take a safety course, and if you are an experienced rider, then consider taking a refresher safety course to ensure you are aware of the most recent road techniques. (2) Purchase high-quality protective gear. (3) Wear gear that is highly visible and even reflective. Many accidents can be avoided by being more visible to other motorists. (4) Call your insurance agent and inquire about purchasing PIP coverage. Jackson Jones highly recommends that you purchase PIP coverage for your motorcycle.

PIP, which stands for Personal Injury Protection, is no-fault insurance that pays for medical costs, and in some instances provides partial coverage for wage loss. Be aware that, In Oregon, PIP coverage is mandatory for automobiles, but not required on motorcycles. So, if you want that coverage, you must purchase it from your insurer prior to the accident.

Motorcycle Accidents Claims

Motorcycle accidents raise a number of unique legal issues. Riders are entitled to compensation for their damages from the at-fault party, yet all too often insurance companies want to give motorcycle riders the runaround. And, because the injuries and treatment are typically significant, providers, healthcare insurers and others can assert liens against the proceeds. It is important to get informed about these issues, along with others such as the statute of limitations, whether tort claim notice is necessary, which healthcare insurer is supposed to pay, and determination of compensation for permanent injury.

We will walk you with through the process of your motorcycle accident claim. Jackson Jones provides free consultation on motorcycle personal injury cases.
